Traveling is fun but people often believe that in addition to its financially draining potential, it also prevents you from earning money. In short, it is considered an all expense, no income activity. But on the contrary, travelers can earn money while having a vacation. They just need a bit of skill and ingenuity.

Online Jobs

Plenty of money making opportunities are available online. The communication technology has made it easy to communicate from anywhere in the world. Anybody with computer and Internet skills can now get different kinds of jobs online.

This is also referred to as electronic freelancing or "e-lancing". Jobs will often include research, typing, and other clerical work. Today, since the Internet is the premiere venue for business and advertising, people can do SEO, web programming and design, link building, and other technical stuff and get paid very lucratively for it.

Online work can also be called telecommuting and some people can become virtual assistants. They can get paid by the hour or can get rated by output; for instance, 4 dollars per article. Payment can be made electronically and it is a safe and secure way to do business. You can work anywhere in the world. Tasks can sometimes be done off line and a constant Internet connection may only be needed in some cases. Other times a job could involve constant connectivity.

Hostel Jobs or Farm/Ranch Hand

Traveling is financially draining however there are a lot of people these days that offer opportunities for backpackers to earn and save money on the go. Travelers can now work in hostels as servers, cleaners, bartenders, or any type of menial job possible. In exchange for these services, travelers will often get free accommodation and sometimes food.

There are also job listings available, usually in local hostels, that enable a travelers to assist in the day to day duties of near by ranches or farms. Travelers can work part and sometimes full time as a farm or ranch hand. Food and shelter is the primary compensation but more often than not, backpackers are able to earn extra wages. Plus, there can be free Internet, pool, and instruction incentives.

Travel Writing or Blogging

If you have the skills to write interesting and informative articles, you can become a travel writer or blogger and earn lots of money out of it. All you have to do is write about your experience, describe what you see, or express your opinions about your encounters. If you are passionate about writing, it will never feel like work but you get to earn from it.

As a travel writer, you can sell your articles to different publishing outfits. Publishing companies that distribute newspapers and travel magazines are the most likely buyers of the articles.

In terms of blogging, this is more of a new age approach to writing. Travel blogging, in contrast, will cater to Internet users but just like travel writing, articles and write ups can be sold to willing customers. In this case, the customers are website owners. They will use the articles as part of their site updates which adds appeal to their respective site.

You can personally use your own articles to your advantage. Have your own website, post your own articles there and earn through affiliate marketing and ad space rentals.
